The brief – design and deliver a highly engaging exhibition that tells the story of the first 75 years of Air New Zealand and how a fledgling flight led to what is today an award winning international airline.
We provided – spatial design | graphic design | content development | production & installation | delivery management
This nostalgic and interactive exhibition took visitors through the decades – from flying boats, to the Dreamliner aircraft, and into the future. Through multiple delivery types that reached a cross-generational audience, the exhibition told the stories of the people, innovation and ingenuity behind the airline, alongside the social contexts of the times. The exhibition included an interactive explaining more about the science of the ’90-minute turnaround’ of airplanes and provided the first opportunity in New Zealand for VR to be utilised in an experience that could be shared by multiple users.
Collaborating with Air New Zealand and the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa allowed us to bring this experience to life in a very short timeframe. We further developed and managed the delivery of the exhibition to allow it to be seen at both Auckland War Memorial Museum and Canterbury Museum. The exhibition was seen by over a million visitors.
